Our First Base Clinic focuses on the details that separate reliable, game-stabilizing first basemen from players who simply stand on the bag. When first base is played well, it elevates the entire infield. When it isn’t, it shows up on the scoreboard. Every drill is purposeful and game-relevant, emphasizing footwork, positioning, timing, and decision-making.
Areas of Focus Include:
- Proper setup and positioning at first base
- When to stretch — and when not to
- Footwork and timing on throws from all angles
- Receiving throws and securing tough picks
- Holding runners and applying intelligent pressure
- Decision-making on bunts, cuts, and rundown situations
